About Eleanor Lux
An artist from early in life, Eleanor built a remarkable life around making things. Her artistic career spanned multiple disciplines, including weaving, beadwork, jewelry, mixed-media art, stained glass, teaching, and community building. Her incredible skill and inspiring work earned her recognition as an Arkansas Living Treasure in 2016.
For decades, Eleanor helped shape the Eureka Springs arts community into the uniquely vibrant creative destination it is today. She was a founding force behind the Eureka Springs School of the Arts and helped launch the beloved White Street Walk, creating opportunities for artists to share their work and for the community to celebrate creativity. She opened her studio, taught generously, mentored fellow artists, and inspired countless people with her energy and curiosity.
A Life of Creative Exploration
Throughout her life, Eleanor sought out immersive artistic experiences that expanded her skills and deepened her understanding of the creative process. Workshops, residencies, travel, and study with master artists took her from Arkansas to Mexico, Ghana, Mali, and beyond.
