See the work created by ESSA’s 2026 2D Artist in Residence, Brian DePauli, during a special exhibition and reception marking the culmination of his eight-week residency at the Eureka Springs School of the Arts.
During his time at ESSA, Brian is creating daily oil studies while exploring ideas around leisure, time, and immortality. Through painting from life, research, and experimentation, these small works have become a way to investigate subjects, materials, and ideas for a developing body of work.
The Artist in Residence Show & Reception offers a chance to see the work Brian has created during his time at ESSA, meet the artist, and hear more about the ideas and experimentation that have shaped his work during the residency.

Brian DePauli is a painter whose meticulously rendered oil paintings turn familiar places and everyday objects into reflections on work, leisure, and American life.
This residency is generously funded by Mid-America Arts Alliance, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the state arts agencies of Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas.
