Lloyd Kelly will be holding 3 separate classes during the festival in addition to a Gamblin Paint Demonstration featuring the non-toxic paints specifically used for plein air painting. Lloyd Kelly is a Contemporary Realist noted for his use of “Asymmetrical Hidden Balance†utilizing color, line, texture and composition in an abstract and conceptual manner.
Carl Petering will be instructing “Plein Air Essentialsâ€. This class is suitable for all skill levels and media. Perfect for those who are new to plein air or those searching for new tips. Carl is well-known to students for his positive attitude, ability to transfer his wealth of knowledge, and his promotion of excitement and discovery.
David Tripp will be instructing two separate classes. Students will learn to sketch nature directly on watercolor, learn to finish quickly with a vignette suitable for framing. Techniques will include drybrush, scraping, pencil rendering, salting and other methods. Dr. Tripp teaches academic subjects in high school and college, but practices watercolor for plein air.
Wen Norton finishes up our instructor lineup with “Art Conservation and Restorationâ€. This class covers the information that will assist all visual artists in the use and selection of the best methods and materials in painting. A special emphasis on plein air painting is planned for this class. Wen is a fine artist and conservator, co-founded Norton Arts, Inc in New York City and Lab in the Ozarks of Arkansas.
