This virtual workshop will introduce students to the world of beautiful, accessible, and sustainable natural dyes. We will learn the best practices of selecting and preparing fibers, extracting color from a variety of plant materials, and fixing natural dyes to the fabric.
Each class session will open with a demonstration, followed by virtual open studio time to get our hands dirty and your questions answered.
A materials kit will be mailed to participants prior to the start of class. You will need a steady internet connection, a free Zoom account, and a computer or an iPad/tablet with an enabled camera and microphone.
*Students must be 18 years of age or older
About Instructor

Natalie Stopka
Natalie (Yonkers, New York) is a New York-based artist focused on historical surface patterning techniques including natural dyeing, pigment extraction, and marbling. These meticulous, layered processes incorporate plants from her studio garden. Natalie is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design.
