Create a unique handbound book by combining skills related to traditional bookbinding and leatherwork. We will focus on the Italian long stitch bookbinding technique, and explore freehand tooling to emboss its vegetable-tanned leather cover. Additionally, we will explore water-based leather dyes and painting techniques to embellish our designs. Open to all skill levels.
All materials included but students should bring sketchbooks, visual ideas, drawing media, and magnification as needed for detail work (such as reading glasses).
Students must be 18 to participate.

Sara Dismukes (Troy, AL) is a multi-media artist working in drawing, painting, bookmaking, and all of the spaces in between. She is art/design faculty at Troy University in Alabama.
