During this workshop you will be introduced to studio safety and be familiarized with the equipment in the iron studio. First, you will forge an “S” hook from round and square steel bar stack and practice tapering, making scrolls, flattening and twisting steel bar. Next, forge a diner bell triangle and striker in the coal forge. Learn how to light and maintain a coal fire forge. Practice tapering, drawing out, making open scrolls and bending the bar at a precise angle. (Materials included, no discounts apply.)

Bert (Bentonville, AR) started his interest in blacksmithing while attending the grand opening of ESSAâ€™s blacksmithing studio in 2014. He now has his own forging shop, The Smithinâ€™ Jones Backyard Blacksmith Company, and is an active member of The Blacksmithing Organization of Arkansas. Bert joined ESSAâ€˜s Board of Directors in 2016. He also owns Gaskinâ€™s Cabin Steakhouse in the Eureka Springs area.
