MILITARY VETERANS SCHOLARSHIPS
ESSA is proud to offer scholarship funds provided by the Holiday Island Elks Lodge 1042 to military veterans
who have served their country. Fundraisers and donors have provided funds to allow military veterans to
experience art education in a unique environment of beauty and creativity, here at ESSA.
Scholarship funding will provide $75 towards tuition for any one‐day workshop offered during 2018. Eligible
workshops are listed on page two of this form. Scholarship funding does not cover supply or material costs for
the selected workshop. ESSA can provide estimated supply and material costs upon request.
Scholarships for workshops are awarded based on various criteria, including funding availability. Applicants will
be considered based upon all application materials submitted. Incomplete applications may not be considered.
Please note that by accepting a Military Veterans Scholarship, you agree to allow ESSA and scholarship donors
to use your name and image in promotion of the scholarship program.

Applicants are notified approximately 3 weeks after the application deadline.
Individual scholarships provide full coverage of workshop tuition. They are awarded to a student to take a specific workshop based on financial need and/or various criteria depending on the source of the funds. For all scholarships, you can find the application form on the right hand of this page or we can send you an application in the mail.
ESSA’s scholarship program is funded by the generous donations of patrons just like you every year. Approximately 10 scholarships per year are awarded in various media, also awarded are three special scholarships each year in memory of Patt Carmichael, Jack Miller and Carol White.
- The Patt Carmichael Scholarship awarded in Painting.
- The Jack Miller Scholarship awarded to a student in Printmaking.
- The Carol White Scholarship awarded to an artist in their chosen medium.

Applicants must submit: Complete application form, a letter of intent (1 page maximum) including an explanation of financial need, and one letter of reference. Examples of financial need may include: fixed income, student status, or limited budget for workshop expenses. Applicants may also, if they wish, submit three good quality (jpeg) images of their work in support of their scholarship application.

Young Artist Scholarships
We also offer scholarship for our Family Day and Family Weekend classes. The award covers the cost of tuition for a 1 or 2 day Family workshop. Recipients may be responsible for paying material fees.
